Exam format and time limit
The written test has 40 questions to answer in 40 minutes, scored out of 100. Points per question vary — simple text questions carry fewer points, while photo and video questions usually carry more.
- Questions: 40
- Time limit: 40 minutes
- Maximum score: 100
Pass score by licence type
The pass mark depends on the licence type.
| Licence type | Pass mark |
|---|---|
| Class 1 (Large/Regular/Special) | 70 or higher |
| Class 2 (Regular/Small) | 60 or higher |
| Moped | 60 or higher |
In short, Class 1 needs 70, Class 2 and Moped need 60 out of 100.
How points are weighted
Questions are worth 2, 3, 4 or 5 points depending on type. Text multiple-choice questions tend to be worth less, while safety-sign, photo and video questions are often worth more. Weighting and composition can change, so always confirm the official KoROAD guidance.
Can I retake if I fail?
If you score below the pass mark you can retake the test. A fee applies again, and the timing and procedure follow the test centre. Reviewing your mistakes with a wrong-answer note before retaking is the efficient way to pass.
